Nashville priest in hot water over video- renewal or revolt?

Nashville priest in hot water over video

NASHVILLE (UPI) -- Possible disciplinary action is being considered
for a Roman Catholic priest in Nashville whose criticism of church
rules wound up on YouTube, the diocese said.

Bishop David Choby plans to meet again with the Rev. Joseph Breen over
the video that he posted on a conservative Catholic Web site and on
YouTube, touching off a flurry of criticism from upset viewers.

Breen agreed to remove the video after meeting with Choby late last
week, but The (Nashville) Tennessean said Tuesday that may not be the
end of it.

"The bishop takes this very seriously," diocese spokesman Rick
Mussachio told the newspaper, adding that Choby was considering a
number of possible actions.

Breen said the video had been meant as an outreach to Catholics who
left the church due to disagreements over church doctrine on issues
such as birth control and papal authority.
