some worthy insights on racism

Evolution and Racism Zig Ziglar

Most people in America, and particularly minorities, would agree that
racism could be the No. 1 problem in our society today. Evolution is a
major factor. Now, if you disagree with those statements, I hope you
will keep reading this column, and you should read the book "One
Blood," written by Ken Ham, Dr. Carl Wieland and Dr. Don Batten, and
published by Master Books Inc.

I believe anyone who has racist leanings and believes in science
and/or the Bible will re-examine their feelings by the time they
finish the book. Scientists say that the basic genetic differences
between any two people in the world would typically be around .2
percent. The so-called "racial characteristics," such as skin color,
eye shape, and so on, account for only 6 percent of this .2 percent
variation, which amounts to a mere .012 percent difference
genetically.

Overall, there is more variation within specific people groups than
there is between one group and another. If a white person is looking
for a tissue match for an organ transplant, for instance, the best
match may come from a black person, and vice-versa. The ABC
News-Science page stated, "What the facts show is that there are
differences among us, but they stem from culture -- not race."

The Bible states in Genesis 1:26 (New King James translation): "Then
God said, 'Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness.
Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the
air, and over the cattle over all the earth and over every creeping
thing that creeps on the earth.'" In short, people never were fish in
any part of any "evolutionary" process. They have always been "over"
fish and all other forms of life.

Acts 17:26 (New Living translation): "And he has made from one blood
every nation of men who dwell on all the face of the earth, and has
determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their
dwellings."

Evolution results (from "One Blood"): "When Adolph Hitler looked for a
final solution for what he called 'the Jewish problem,' the fact of
the Jews' existence, he had only to recall what scientists like Ernst
Haeckel promoted and liberal theologians embraced -- that a
purposeless process known as 'evolution' had generated all of life's
complexity, including civilization itself. 'It has done so through a
pitiless procedure of the strong eliminating the weak.' As the
influence of this idea spread, the Bible was increasingly taught as
myth." In short, the Jews were "deserving of" extinction.

However, it doesn't stop there. "To Hitler, people with different skin
color and facial features were 'subhuman.' His ideas came directly
from the research of fanatical Darwinists, like Haeckel, who had
popularized the idea decades earlier that human fetuses go through
their 'evolutionary history' in the womb -- from cell to fish to frog
to monkey to man." That's why many people argue that early in
pregnancy a person does not exist. What nonsense!

In the last 100 years, racism, fostered by the evolutionary theory,
has cost literally millions of lives in our world. "Since Haeckel,
Darwin, Hitler and all the rest are long dead, what does it mean for
us today? Who cares?" Then, they say, " ... Our publishing
headquarters are located (just) 30 miles from the International
Headquarters of the Ku Klux Klan -- right in the middle of the United
States. Neo-Nazis are becoming a force in Germany, and ... ethnic
cleansing -- a euphemism for mass murder -- (is) going on all over the
world as never before.

"In Australia, Aborigines were thought until very recently to be
subhuman. Thousands were deliberately murdered to provide specimens of
living missing links for Northern Hemisphere museums. The Australian
National Museum classified Aboriginal people under the heading,
'Australian Animals,' and gave instructions on how to plug up the
bullet holes 'once you had shot your specimen for science.'

"Racial hatred is not confined to white men hitting brown-, red- or
yellow-skinned people: Some Black Muslim leaders also practice racism,
and there is anti-Chinese violence in Indonesia. The Japanese in World
War II used it to justify their nation's expansionist aggression. They
had been told that they were the most highly evolved race on Earth.
After all, Europeans, with their longer arms and hairier chests, were
clearly still closer to the ape, weren't they? Chances are good you
remember the contempt otherwise reasonable white men had for 'Japs.'
Remember that we have bashed the poor Neanderthals and questioned
their intelligence. Interestingly enough, they had bigger brains than
we do! They simply looked 'different.' And recently in Texas that
horrible dragging death of the black man by white supremacists."

Space in a column does not permit me to give all the details, but the
authors give compelling reasons and scientific evidence to explain the
different skin colors and the different features that certain people
have. They go ahead to say, "As pointed out previously, most
biologists now agree that among modern humans, 'race' has little or no
biological meaning. This also argues strongly against the idea that
the people groups have been evolving separately for long periods."

I strongly encourage you to get a copy of this book. An associate of
mine, whom I have known extremely well, revealed that she did not
think there was a racist bone in her body, and yet, when she read the
book, she realized the problems that go with racism -- some so subtle
that you scarcely notice them, others so obvious that we wonder how on
earth anyone could ever have believed such a thing.

I am convinced that when we understand what evolution has done to
cause racism, it will open our eyes, causing us to take a fresh look
at the fact that our differences are primarily cultural and not
racial. I'm convinced that we are one blood.

Question: If you were in need of an organ transplant, would you insist
that it be from a person of the same color? Chances are good you
wouldn't give a hoot about the color of the donor. 'Nuff said.
