Pope rebukes Belgium over police raid
VATICAN, Vatican City (UPI) -- In a rare rebuke of a sovereign nation, Pope Benedict XVI criticized Belgium for a raid on church property by police investigating alleged sex abuse by clerics. The pontiff stressed the Catholic Church's "autonomy" to conduct its own investigations while characterizing last week's raid by Belgian police searching for documents as "surprising and deplorable," The New York Times reported Sunday. The police allegedly confiscated files, detained bishops and drilled into the tombs of at least one cardinal in a Brussels cathedral. "On several occasions I have personally reiterated that such serious issues should be attended to by both civil and canon law, with respect for their reciprocal specificity and autonomy," Benedict said in a statement. The raid by Belgian police came months after the Belgian church created a committee to investigate claims of sex abuse similar to those lodged in other European countries, the Times said. The Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, compared the detention of bishops and other tactics employed by the Belgian police in their raids to those of Communist regimes. Benedict said in his Sunday message he hoped "justice will run its course," guaranteeing "the fundamental rights of people and institutions" and "the respect for victims."

: Laurier defines Canadian.

What is a Canadian?  A nation  with one loyalty ,one equality, one people

Wilfrid Laurier ideas on Immigrants and being a Canadian in 1907.
'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes a Canadian and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet a Canadian, and nothing but a Canadian...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is a Canadian, but something else also, isn't a Canadian at all. We have room for but one flag, the Canadian flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the Canadian people.'

A little inspiration on sharing

1. God Ist Gut

"Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."1

In the book, Finding Hope Again, Roy Fairchild told how he had come to Vienna after a two-week illness in a small Austrian village. He had spent most of his money on medical costs and his last cent to take a train to Vienna to try and find his friends with whom he had been traveling.

As he was standing in one of the street car stations in the center of the city, tired, hungry and discouraged, a little old wrinkled lady, one of the ladies whose job was to sweep out the station, came to him and asked him if he were hungry.

Before he could answer she took her own lunch from a brown paper bag and offered him half of it. He said he was so moved by her action that he has never forgotten her face or her kindness and the sparkle in her eye.

They talked for more than an hour about her life. She was raised in the country on a farm knowing only hard work. Since then she had lost her husband and two sons in the Resistance. Only her daughter had survived but she said that she was very thankful for many things.

When asking her why she offered him half her lunch the lady simply said, "Jesu ist mein Herr. Gott ist gut (Jesus is my Lord. God is good)."

This story reminds me of one of my favorite hymns written by Kate B. Wilkinson. Let's make it our prayer for today and every day:

"Dear God,

May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By his love and pow'r controlling,
       All I do and say.
May his beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
       Seeing only him.

Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

Happy Fathers Day

1. A Father's Blessing

"When Israel saw the sons of Joseph, he asked, 'Who are these?' 'They are the sons God has given me here,' Joseph said to his father. Then Israel said, 'Bring them to me so I may bless them.'"1

One of the major causes of emotional and relational conflicts among teens, adults, and even children is that of fatherless homes, absentee fathers, emotionally uninvolved fathers, and/or abusive fathers. In God's economy and plan fathers have an extremely important and significant role to play, not only providing for their children's physical needs, but also for their emotional and spiritual needs. Equally important is the God-given role of mothers, but today we are focusing on fathers.

Regardless of what women's libbers and/or gay couples try to tell us, one of the greatest needs for healthy homes and families—healthy children, teens, and healthy, mature adults—is to have (or to have had) a father who is/was not only present emotionally, but also affirming, loving, accepting, and loving and giving full support to his wife—the mother of his children—and modeling what it means to be a kind, loving and supportive father, man, and adult. Every child needs this, his/her father's blessing. The importance of this for the healthy nurturing of his children simply cannot be over-emphasized.

For a few simple tips on being a supportive father, listen to what Gary Smalley, popular author and psychologist, had to say after he asked 100 people, "What is one specific way you knew that you had received your father's blessing?"

Here are some of those answers:

1. "My father would put his arm around me at church and let me lay my head on his shoulder."

2. "When my father was facing being transferred at work, he purposely took another job so that I could finish my senior year in high school at the same school."

3. "When I wrecked my parent's car, my father's first reaction was to hug me and let me cry instead of yelling at me."

4. "When I was thirteen, my dad trusted me to use his favorite hunting rifle when I was invited to go hunting with a friend and his father."

5. "My father went with me when I had to take back an ugly dress a saleswoman had talked me into buying."

6. "My father would let me practice pitching to him for a long time when he got home from work."

7. "Even though I had never seen him cry before, my father cried during my wedding because he was going to miss my no longer being at home."2

Perhaps the greatest need of fathers is to be emotionally as well as physically present for his wife and children. At the same time, it's the multiplication of the everyday little loving, caring things over the years that help a child to feel affirmed and blessed by his/her father.

They've raised the roof out in B.C.and for the life of me I
can't understand why they aren't reacting here. Blows my
mind. At least B.C isn't adding the HST to gas. You know,
the sad thing about this whole situation is that the folks
in Ontario won't react until they see the price at the pump
jump by 8% on July 1st, as well as their heating bill, hydro
bill, water, etc.and perhaps shit will hit the fan then,
when it's too late. Let's just hope it picks up speed so
we're able to sign up 10% so we can hold a referendum. We
only have 6 weeks until this bill becomes law so you and
everyone you know has to sign this petition now and keep it
going.

Re: Fw: The Magnificat Year for Priests Companion

Thanks for the information George -it is posted  Sieg

Subject: The Magnificat Year for Priests Companion

MAGNIFICAT ®

Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

June 11

An excerpt from the Magnificat Year for Priests Companion:

The Grace of the Presence of Christ
Father Walter Ciszek, S.J.

The moment a priest appeared on the camp grounds by himself or with a fellow priest, he would be joined by passing prisoners. The moment it became known in a new brigade or new barracks or a new camp that a man was a priest, he would be sought out. He didn't have to make friends; they came to him instead. It was a very humbling experience, because you quickly came to appreciate that it was God's grace at work and had little to do with your own efforts. People came to you because you were a priest, not because of what you were personally. They didn't always come, either, expecting wise counsel or spiritual wisdom or an answer to their every difficulty; they came expecting absolution from their sins, the power of the sacrament.

To realize this was a matter of joy and of humility. You realized that they came to you as a man of God, a representative of God, a man chosen from among men and ordained for men in the things that are of God; you realized, too, that this imposed upon you an obligation of service, of ministry, with no thought of personal inconvenience, no matter how tired you might be physically or what risks you might be running in the face of official threats.

For my part, I could not help but see in every encounter with every prisoner the will of God for me, now, at this time and in this place, and the hand of providence that had brought me there by strange and torturous paths...

The things that are of God are all the joys and works and sufferings of each day, however burdensome and boring, routine and insignificant they may seem.  It is the priest's function to offer these things back to God for his fellow men and to serve as an example, a witness, a martyr, a testimony before the men around him of God's providence and purpose.

Lesson's from Noah -smile

Lessons from Noah's Ark
Plan ahead... It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big.

Don't listen to critics- do what has to be done.

Build on high ground.

For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

Two heads are better than one.

Speed isn't always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board but... so were the snails.

If you can't fight or flee---float!!

Take care of your animals as if they were the last ones on Earth.

Don't forget that we're all in the same boat.

When things get really deep, don't sit there and complain-- shovel!!!

Stay below deck during the storm.

Remember that the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic was built by professionals.

If you have to start over, have a friend by your side.

Remember that the woodpeckers INSIDE are often a bigger threat than the storm outside.

Don't miss the boat.

No matter how bleak it looks, there's always a rainbow on the horizon.

Canada Day offers something for all - Brantford Expositor - Ontario, CA#postbox

Get ready for a great day knights - Our Knights of Columbus Snack wagon will be at the event . Help us make it a success,

The city took over running the festival, after a community-based team went defunct.
Brant MPP Dave Levac lauded organizers for "stepping up and saying 'we've got to party'" and the city for taking the event under its wing with help from the community.
"Canada Day needs to be celebrated here," he said. "We were here as villages and towns long before we were a country."
Levac also said he knows new Canadians feel just as passionate about their adopted country.
"More than 275,000 people choose every single year to come here. We've got something right going on."

Priest Who Saw Heaven, Purgatory and Hell

Some inspiration from our chancellor

Dear Sieg; please pass this on to as many as you can. It is a remarkable story from my mother. I have deleted her email address. Thanx; Fred.

This  is not a story coming out of the rumour mill. The priest whose testimony is given below is the pastor of a Catholic Church in Florida. The testimony is on the website of the parish.

A priest who saw heaven, hell, and purgatory
The death experience of Father Jose Maniyangat
        Francais-Espanol
Fr. Jose Maniyangat is currently the pastor of St. Mary's Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Macclenny, Florida.
        Here is his personal testimony:

I was born on July 16, 1949 in Kerala, India to my parents, Joseph and Theresa Maniyangat. I am the eldest of seven children: Jose, Mary, Theresa, Lissama, Zachariah, Valsa and Tom..
At the age of fourteen, I entered St. Mary's Minor Seminary in Thiruvalla to begin my studies for the priesthood. Four years later, I went to St. Joseph's Pontifical Major Seminary in Alwaye, Kerala to continue my priestly formation. After completing the seven years of philosophy and theology, I was ordained a priest on January 1, 1975 to serve as a missionary in the Diocese of Thiruvalla.
On Sunday April 14, 1985, the Feast of the Divine Mercy, I was going to celebrate Mass at a mission church in the north part of Kerala, and I had a fatal accident. I was riding a motorcycle when I was hit head-on by a jeep driven by a man who was intoxicated after a Hindu festival. I was rushed to a hospital about 35 miles away. On the way, my soul came out from my body and I experienced death. Immediately, I met my Guardian Angel. I saw my body and the people who were carrying me to the hospital. I heard them crying and praying for me. At this time my angel told me: "I am going to take you to Heaven, the Lord wants to meet you and talk with you." He also said that, on the way, he wanted to show me hell and purgatory.

        Hell
First, the angel escorted me to hell. It was an awful sight! I saw Satan and the devils, an unquenchable fire of about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, worms crawling, people screaming and fighting, others being tortured by demons. The angel told me that all these sufferings were due to unrepented mortal sins. Then, I understood that there are seven degrees of suffering or levels according to the number and kinds of mortal sins committed in their earthly lives. The souls looked very ugly, cruel and horrific. It was a fearful experience. I saw people whom I knew, but I am not allowed to reveal their identities. The sins that convicted them were mainly abortion, homosexuality, euthanasia, hatefulness, unforgiveness and sacrilege. The angel told me that if they had repented, they would have avoided hell and gone instead to purgatory. I also understood that some people who repent from these sins might be purified on earth through their sufferings. This way they can avoid purgatory and go straight to heaven.
I was surprised when I saw in hell even priests and Bishops, some of whom I never expected to see. Many of them were there because they had misled the people with false teaching and bad example.

        Purgatory
After the visit to hell, my Guardian Angel escorted me to purgatory.
Here too, there are seven degrees of suffering and unquenchable fire. But it is far less intense than hell and there was neither quarreling nor fighting.
The main suffering of these souls is their separation from God. Some of those who are in purgatory committed numerous mortal sins, but they were reconciled with God before their death. Even though these souls are suffering, they enjoy peace and the knowledge that one day they will see God face to face.
I had a chance to communicate with the souls in purgatory. They asked me to pray for them and to tell the people to pray for them as well, so they can go to heaven quickly. When we pray for these souls, we will receive their gratitude through their prayers, and once they enter heaven, their prayers become even more meritorious.
It is difficult for me to describe how beautiful my Guardian Angel is. He is radiant and bright. He is my constant companion and helps me in all my ministries, especially my healing ministry. I experience his presence everywhere I go and I am grateful for his protection in my daily life.

        Heaven
Next, my angel escorted me to heaven passing through a big dazzling white tunnel. I never experienced this much peace and joy in my life. Then immediately heaven opened up and I heard the most delightful music, which I never heard before. The angels were singing and praising God. I saw all the saints, especially the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, and many dedicated holy Bishops and priests who were shining like stars.
And when I appeared before the Lord, Jesus told me: "I want you to go back to the world. In your second life, you will be an instrument of peace and healing to My people. You will walk in a foreign land and you will speak in a foreign tongue. Everything is possible for you with My grace.." After these words, the Blessed Mother told me: "Do whatever He tells you. I will help you in your ministries."
Words can not express the beauty of heaven.. There we find so much peace and happiness, which exceed a million times our imagination.
Our Lord is far more beautiful than any image can convey. His face is radiant and luminous and more beautiful than a thousand rising suns. The pictures we see in the world are only a shadow of His magnificence.. The Blessed Mother was next to Jesus; She was so beautiful and radiant. None of the images we see in this world can compare with Her real beauty.
Heaven is our real home; we are all created to reach heaven and enjoy God forever. Then, I came back to the world with my angel.
While my body was at the hospital, the doctor completed all examinations and I was pronounced dead. The cause of death was bleeding.
My family was notified, and since they were far away, the hospital staff decided to move my dead body to the morgue. Because the hospital did not have air conditioners, they were concerned that the body would decompose quickly. As they were moving my dead body to the morgue, my soul came back to the body. I felt an excruciating pain because of so many wounds and broken bones. I began to scream, and then the people became frightened and ran away screaming. One of them approached the doctor and
said: "The dead body is screaming." The doctor came to examine the body and found that I was alive. So he said: "Father is alive, it is a miracle! Take him back to the hospital."
Now, back at the hospital, they gave me blood transfusions and I was taken to surgery to repair the broken bones. They worked on my lower jaw, ribs, pelvic bone, wrists, and right leg. After two months, I was released from the hospital, but my orthopedic doctor said that I would never walk again. I then said to him: "The Lord who gave me my life back and sent me back to the world will heal me." Once at home, we were all praying for a miracle. Still after a month, and with the casts removed, I was not able to move. But one day while praying I felt an extraordinary pain in my pelvic area. After a short while the pain disappeared completely and I heard a voice saying: "You are healed. Get up and walk." I felt the peace and healing power on my body. I immediately got up and walked. I praised and thanked God for the miracle.
I reached my doctor with the news of my healing, and he was amazed.
He said: "Your God is the true God. I must follow your God." The doctor was Hindu, and he asked me to teach him about our Church. After studying the Faith, I baptized him and he became Catholic.
Following the message from my Guardian Angel, I came to the United States on November 10, 1986 as a missionary priest.... Since June 1999, I have been pastor of St. Mary's Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Macclenny, Florida.
        Fr. Jose Maniyangat

Gilding the lily - interesting point of view seniors are a resource not a burden - food for thought

So yes, the argument can be made that seniors see doctors more often and for longer appointments than younger people in any given year — but the difference in time taken isn’t that much and, going back to that tax-filing rate, it would appear seniors are paying in full for the extra service. Perhaps the most dramatic evidence against the tsunami health-crisis thesis is the answer to this simplest of all questions: “How do you feel?” Pose this question to a group of 40-year-olds, as was done in the 2005 Canadian Community Health Survey, and 92 per cent will describe their physical health as “good,” “very good” or “excellent.” Ask a group of 60-year-olds the same question, and 83 per cent will give you the same good-to-excellent response; 70-year-olds — 78 per cent; 80-year-olds — 67 per cent. If this seems like some old people are gilding the lily by overestimating their actual physical hardiness, another table in that same survey, which used objective medical professional assessment as opposed to self-assessment, found that more than 70 per cent of 70-year-old Canadians were in “very good or perfect functional health.” Even 80-year-olds topped the 50 per cent mark.

Old age isn’t a disease any more than infancy is. Most Zoomers are active, contributing members of society, and we’ll be that way for the lion’s share of our aging years. Just staying alive is not our preference; living well till we die is. So spread the word: when it comes to health and wellness, we’re not just part of the problem, we’re actually part of the solution. We might even be worth more to the world alive than dead.

Do we have bullies in our church or Christian organization ? What to do .......

Fact -Every church has a church boss; that is, someone or a small group who, often behind the scenes, control the happenings of the church. This isn't usually the pastor or priest. Today we call these people control freaks. They have a neurotic need to control others in order to feel okay about themselves, when in reality they do this because deep down they don't feel okay about themselves.

William Easum calls them bullies. After years of consulting with churches he said, "I have seen a disturbing pattern: Most established churches are held hostage by bullies. Some individual or small group of individuals usually opposes the church's making any radical change, even if it means the change would give the church a chance to thrive again. Courageous pastors often ask, 'What do I do when one or two persons intimidate the church so much that it is not willing to try something new?'"2

Easum's response was either to convert them, neutralize them, or kick them out. To which some cry, "That's not very Christian."

The point is that sometimes (not always, by any means) we Christians are just too nice. That's more because we are too afraid to stand up to bullies and call their bluff—not because we're Christian. We'd rather keep the peace than rock the boat.

True, we are to be loving, but that doesn't mean we always have to be nice. I recall hearing an employer share how he was accused of not being Christian by an inept employee he was firing. So he said to the employee in question, "Well I'm going to lovingly fire you." If, after being given several warnings and help to improve, an employee is not pulling his or her weight, it isn't loving to let him off the hook. In fact, it is reinforcing his irresponsibility, which is anything but loving. Neither is it loving to allow bullies to control a church.

So let's not confuse loving with being nice. Jesus was always loving and compassionate as this was his nature, but he wasn't always nice. Think how he turned over the tables of the money changers—merchants who were ripping off the poor in the house of God, no less—and drove them out of the temple with a whip, and how he scathingly scorned the religious bigots who loved their doctrines more than they loved people, and used their teachings to control people for their own ends.

Jesus knew the value of tough love. Not that it's easy. In fact, it can be very difficult, but we need to exercise it too when such is called for.

Fwd: FW: The HST Stimulus Cheque Explained

Smile -sad but true

Subject: Fw: The HST Stimulus Cheque Explained

Now ... this clears everything up!

Sometime this year,  we taxpayers will receive an ' HST Compensation'' payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program,  and I'll explain it by
using a Q & A format:

  Q.  What is an 'HST Compensation' payment?

  A.  It is money that the provincial government will send to taxpayers.

Q..  Where will the government get this money?

  A.  From taxpayers.

  Q.  So the government is giving me back my own money?

  A.  Only a smidgen of it.

  Q.  What is the purpose of this payment?

  A.  The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a
high-definition TV set,  thus stimulating the economy.

  Q.  But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?

  A.  Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the economy by
spending your compensation cheque wisely:

      *  If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will
go to China or Sri Lanka.

      *  If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the
Arabs.

      *  If you purchase a computer, it will go to India, Taiwan or
China.

      *  If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico,
Honduras and Guatemala.

      *  If you buy an efficient car,  it will go to Japan or Korea.

      *  If  you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.

      *  If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead,  keep the money in Canada by:

  1)  Spending it at yard sales, or

  2)  Going to
hockey games, or

  3)  Spending it on prostitutes, or

  4)  Beer or

  5) Tattoos.

(These are the only Canadian businesses still operating in Canada.)

  Conclusion:

Go to a hockey
game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard sale and drink beer all day!

Ethics are a code you subscribe to or chose to ignore - Brantford Expositor - Ontario, CA

This is an excellent assessment of the political process and applies to all organization

Most of us don't steal from the church collection box because we fear we will be caught. We don't do it because it is wrong, and we abide by moral rules. If, on the other hand, we steal from church collection boxes, no amount of ethical training will change us.
I'd argue it's that way with politicians -- they are what they are and training in ethics is pointless. They either are honourable or they are not. Period.

Do Atheists Have a Right to a "Religion-Free" Workplace?

Do Atheists Have a Right to a "Religion-Free" Workplace? Cliff Ennico

"I own a commercial nursery with about 30 seasonal employees. My kids also work for me. One morning, my daughter tacked a handmade poster with a Bible verse on my door. It referred to flowers and nature. My door faces into the break room.

One of my supervisors tore down the poster and told me we were violating her rights to a religion-free workplace. She's worked for me for 18 years and is a valuable employee.

I was shocked. Is she right? Do I have the right to fire her for doing this?"

Well, here's a twist. Once upon a time, people had to fight to have their religious views respected in the workplace. But at least in the United States, a significant segment of the population, bolstered by books such as Christopher Hitchens' "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" and movies such as Bill Maher's "Religulous," identify themselves as atheists or secular humanists.

These folks want their rights, too, and are fighting against what they perceive as society's bias in favor of religiously minded people.

There is (as yet) no constitutional right to a "religion-free workplace" -- the supervisor is dead wrong about that. In fact, attempting to create such a workplace may expose this employer to liability for denying religious employees the constitutionally guaranteed right to express their beliefs in the workplace.

Generally, employers are required by law to make "reasonable accommodations" to employees with religious needs, just as they are required to do for the disabled. Title VII of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, among other laws, offers broad protections to religious-minded people. If a person's religion prohibits him from cutting his hair, and having long hair doesn't interfere with his work or create a hazardous work environment (for example, the employee sits at a desk all day and is not required to operate machinery in which his long hair could get caught), an employer cannot legally require the employee to cut his hair, or deny him a promotion on the basis of his appearance.

The courts have been equally strict about not allowing one employee to create a hostile work environment for others by harassing them about what they do or don't believe. An evangelical Christian employee who passes out copies of the Gospel of John to all of his Jewish co-workers in an effort to convert them to Christianity would almost certainly have to be reprimanded for his behavior, and possibly terminated if he fails to cease proselytizing in the workplace after due warning.

Posting a Bible quote on an office wall, as the reader's daughter did, almost certainly would not be viewed as creating a hostile environment, especially as the quote in this case is not designed to express a view that excludes, belittles or threatens people of other religions (as compared to, for example, a wall poster saying "Jihad against non-believers is necessary in the service of God" or "Members of Faith X are guilty of killing and eating children"). Most atheists of my acquaintance have nothing against flowers or nature, to my knowledge, and would probably agree with the quote regardless of its origin.

By tearing down the poster in full view of the reader's daughter and (presumably) other employees in the break area, the worker may have helped to create a hostile work environment for religious people that may justify a reprimand or termination.

The first thing this reader should do is consult with an attorney who specializes in civil rights or employee relations law to determine how the local federal courts have construed the rights of non-religious people in the workplace. If those courts' rulings are consistent with my analysis above, the reader should then meet privately with the supervisor and tell her in no uncertain terms that if she believes a hostile work environment has been created by any other employee's actions, she should speak first to her boss (the reader) before taking unilateral action that may expose the entire company to a lawsuit and negative publicity.

Assuming that doesn't work, and recognizing that the supervisor is a valued employee whom the reader would be reluctant to terminate, there are two "common sense" options:

Do nothing. It will cost tens of thousands of dollars to bring a federal lawsuit for religious discrimination, and hundreds of thousands more dollars to reach a judgment -- unless the supervisor is extremely wealthy (or has the backing of a well-funded atheists' rights group who can afford to bring a "test case"), it is highly unlikely the supervisor will sue her employer.

Re-post the offending wall poster and quotation, but cover over that portion of the poster that attributes the quote to the Christian Bible -- as far as I can tell, God is pretty mellow about such things and probably won't sue this company for infringing His copyright to the quote.

Although, wouldn't it be a gas if He did? We wouldn't have to worry about atheists' rights then, would we?

Twelve ways to stay stressed and minimize your quality of life

Ways To Stay Stressed

THROW OUT YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR. Staying stressed is no laughing matter, and it shouldn't be treated as one. Frown ,do not smile being stressed and miserable is a serious matter

Are you worried now about how to stay stressed? You'll have no trouble if you practice the following clinically proven methods:

  1. NEVER EXERCISE. Exercise wastes a lot of time that could be spent worrying.
  2. EAT ANYTHING YOU WANT. Hey, if cigarette smoke can't cleanse your system, a balanced diet isn't likely to.
  3. GAIN WEIGHT. Work hard at staying at least 25 pounds over your recommended weight.
  4. TAKE PLENTY OF STIMULANTS. The old standards of caffeine, nicotine, sugar, and cola will continue to do the job just fine.
  5. GET RID OF YOUR SOCIAL SUPPORT SYSTEM. Let the few friends who are willing to tolerate you know that concern yourself with friendships only if you have time, and you never have time. If a few people persist in trying to be your friend, avoid them
  6. PERSONALIZE ALL CRITICISM. Anyone who criticizes any aspect of your work, family, dog, house, or car is mounting a personal attack. Don't take time to listen, be offended, then return the attack!
  7. MALES AND FEMALES ALIKE - BE MACHO. Never ever ask for help, and if you want it done right, do it yourself!
  8. BECOME A WORKAHOLIC. Put work before everything else, and be sure to take work home evenings and weekends. Keep reminding yourself that vacations are for sissies.
  9.  DISCARD GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS. Schedule in more activities every day than you can possibly get done and then worry about it all whenever you get a chance.
  10. PROCRASTINATE. Putting things off to the last second always produces a marvelous amount of stress.
  11. WORRY ABOUT THINGS YOU CAN'T CONTROL. Worry about the stock market, earthquakes, the approaching Ice Age, you know, all the big issues.
  12. BECOME NOT ONLY A PERFECTIONIST BUT SET IMPOSSIBLY HIGH STANDARDS......and either beat yourself up, or feel guilty, depressed, discouraged, and/or inadequate when you don't meet them.

You have the power - how to baby your organization for control - smile

Baby Power
Hello, my name is Quinn, and I'm nine months old. This is powerful advice for all you babies out there. Parents, please leave now, or you will be punished. Okay, now that the minions are gone, let's get down to business.

Do you feel like you have no control over your life? Do your mommy and daddy make you do and wear things you absolutely hate? Are you at the bottom of your family's power structure? I'm here to tell you that all this can be a thing of the past. By following my ten simple rules, you'll be wearing the diaper and the pants in the family in no time!

Rule #1

You have absolute power.

Repeat this to yourself on a daily basis. You are the ruler of your universe. Your parents are there to serve you, not the other way around. You have unlimited power over them.

Rule #2

Cry.

Tears are your biggest asset in your arsenal against your parents. If you don't like something, cry! Parents have absolutely no defense against this wet onslaught. They will do anything to get you to stop. This is especially useful in public places. For maximum effectiveness, increase volume every fifteen seconds.

Rule #3

Be cute.

This is your number one defense mechanism. You're going to pull a lot of crap most people would never get away with, and your cute factor is the only thing allowing this. Flash a smile, and your parents will go weak in the knees with gushing admiration of your blessed existence, even after you've just broken half the stuff in the house.

Rule #4

Keep them weak.

I don't care if you have to set an alarm clock for yourself, but you need to wake your parents up at least three times a night. A rested parent is a strong parent, and that means bad news for you. The more weary they are, the more malleable to your intricate plans of global domination.

Rule #5

Pee on them.

Once out of every ten diaper changes, you should let loose your golden stream of glory. This shows them who's boss, and keeps them on their toes. If you can, aim for the face for maximum effectiveness. At the very least, you should be able to cover yourself as well as a portion of your parent's clothes. This works well for those situations where they've put you in an embarrassing outfit, or they're in a hurry to get somewhere

Rule #6

Make them carry you.

Do not let them put you down! This is very important. The moment they realize you can get around by yourself, they will no longer want to carry you. If you are put on the ground, see rule #2. Your parents are strong, and there's two of them. They can carry you forever.

Rule #7

Smack them around a little.

Parents are under the false impression that we have very little control over our arms and legs. Use this to your advantage! Every now and then, just randomly slap them in the face, and then smile and laugh. They may curse a little, but I guarantee no harm will come to you. They are powerless against the smile and laugh combination.

Rule #8

Women and grandparents love babies.

Capturing this key demographic can bring you joys beyond your wildest expectations. Toys, food, and attention can all be yours when you manipulate this segment of the population. Gramps will even let you watch the Spice channel if nobody else is around!

Rule #9

Siblings exist for your amusement.

Your brothers and sisters are the court jesters in your vast kingdom. They are there for your personal entertainment, and nothing more. Laugh at their crazy antics, but the moment they get out of line with that "the baby gets all the attention" crap, pull their hair. One word of warning though. Make sure a parent is nearby when you do this, as siblings are immune to your cute defense mechanisms. Be sure to cry, so your parent is alerted to your mortal danger.

Rule #10

No private time.

This is perhaps the most important rule of them all. Do not let your parents have private time! If you hear these evil words uttered, alarms should go off in your head. Nothing good can come from private time. At the very least, private time rejuvenates them, making them more resistant to your powers. And in the worst possible scenario, private time could lead to a new baby replacing you as the ruler of the house! This event needs to be stopped at all costs!

That's it, troops. Follow these simple rules and you should have a long and fruitful reign as ruler of your household.

You have the power!

Fwd: [Q-jumpers-The Health Myth Busters] Survey: People uncaring to mentally ill

And yet we pay lots of money to make sure this does not happen

Survey: People uncaring to mentally ill
WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Twenty-two percent of U.S. adults say people show caring and sympathy to those with mental illness, a government survey indicates.

The national survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the estimated 9.8 million U.S. adults living with serious mental illness, found the prevalence of serious mental illness is highest in the 18-25 age group.

The HealthStyles Survey, by SAMHSA and Porter Novelli, indicates 72 percent of young adults ages 18-24 say a person with mental illness would improve if given treatment and support. However, only 33 percent say a person can eventually recover from mental illness.

Forty percent of the survey respondents say a person with mental illness can succeed at work and 65 percent say treatment can help people with mental illness.

SAMHSA and The Advertising Council are beginning a national public service announcement campaign aimed at encouraging, educating and inspiring young adults to support friends and family experiencing a mental health problem.

"We know that people can recover from mental health problems," Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of Health and Human Services, says in a statement. "Today we are getting the word out that support from friends and family can make a difference in helping people overcome these illnesses."

No survey details were provided.
