Is this a dangerous precedent and what can we do about this globalist leaning agenda?

Supreme Grand Knight recommends six actions, principles or solutions for the ISIS threat

It’s a dire situation, he said, “but their fate is not inevitable.” The United States can avert this crisis by acting according to six principles:

1. Increase humanitarian aid and provide oversight to ensure it gets to those targeted for genocide.
2. Support the long-term survival of indigenous religious and ethnic communities by supporting their right to remain in their country.
3. Punish the perpetrators of genocide and crimes against humanity.
4. Assist the victims of genocide in attaining refugee status.
5. Make preparations to ensure that Christians and other minorities have equal rights in deciding their future as ISIS-controlled territory is liberated.
6. Promote the establishment of internationally agreed upon standards of human rights and religious freedom as conditions for humanitarian and military assistance. Supreme Knight Anderson also reported that neither the U.S. government nor the United Nations have offered financial assistance to respond to the crisis of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and urban refugees.

The State Department also received a nearly 300-page report, submitted by the Knights, that detailed the brutality which Christians and other minorities have experienced at the hands of ISIS. The report was credited by officials as having been influential in the declaration of genocide made by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. House of Representatives in mid-March. After submitting the report, Supreme Knight Anderson was invited to testify in Congress before the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission to suggest a path forward for the victims of genocide. A call for justice for Middle East Christians

The Knights of Columbus is committed to this great cause.  We submitted to the State Department on March 9 and subsequently to members of Congress,  a nearly 300-page report that documented the atrocities and laid out the legal analysis supporting the conclusion that genocide is occurring.

The United Nations can play a vital role by protecting the victims and refugees, by ensuring the survival of these ancient indigenous and religious communities, by punishing the perpetrators and by supporting the establishment of internationally agreed-upon standards of justice, equality, rule of law and religious freedom.
Carl Anderson is CEO of the Knights of Columbus. This essay is based on remarks he made to a conference on Christian genocide at the United Nations on April 28.

WEEKEND EXTRA: Death knell for service organizations

 Death knell for service organizations

Although cynics often portray service clubs as stuffy, self-righteous temples of boosterism and bourgeois conformity, I think they are a crucial part of the middle class glue that holds communities together.

And I came away from the experience with a strong sense of how much communities, often without knowing it, rely on the work of these far from glitzy volunteers who make sure kids have safe places to play, who organize minor sports, who put on the pancake breakfasts and serve the hotdogs at public events, and who work behind the scenes to help organize those events.

This view is supported by research, which finds that the key indicators of social cohesion in a community are the degree of charitable giving and civic participation through membership in service organizations and volunteering time in community causes.

Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus

A call to action

Dear Brother Knight,

The Knights of Columbus is committed to assisting our Christian brothers and sisters who are suffering in the Middle East. At this year’s Supreme Convention, I announced a “Season of Truth” dedicated to raising awareness of their plight, and the plight of other religious minorities in the region.

The violence in the Middle East has led to many deaths and the greatest refugee crisis since WWII. Over four million people have been displaced. Among the most affected are Iraqi and Syrian Christians, who are the victims of ongoing systematic cleansing and persecution. While the Christian population in Iraq once numbered above a million, violence has reduced that number by more than 65%. This human catastrophe has drawn commentary from Pope Francis, who said this of the persecution:

Today we are dismayed to see how in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world many of our brothers and sisters are persecuted, tortured and killed for their faith in Jesus. In this third world war, waged piecemeal, … a form of genocide is taking place.

As Knights of Columbus we cannot be part of what Pope Francis has called the “complicit silence” of many who hear of these atrocities and do nothing. We must act.

To date, we have donated more than $4 million to relief efforts in Iraq and Syria through the Knights of Columbus Christian Refugee Relief Fund. We have also launched a website and released a commercial to raise awareness of the crisis. However, more assistance is needed, as the response from the international community has been woefully inadequate.

Please go to christiansatrisk.org to learn more about this humanitarian emergency and to make a donation that will provide material assistance to these refugees. Please also consider sharing this message with your family and friends.

As Knights of Columbus, we are called to stand in solidarity with all those Christians around the world who are suffering from violent persecution, offering spiritual and material assistance to these victims of crimes against humanity. Please pray daily for our Christian brothers and sisters—for their perseverance in faith and hope, the improvement of their living conditions, and the restoration of peace in their land.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.

Vivat Jesus!

Behind the Scenes With the Pope's Secret Science Committee - Bloomberg Business

Behind the Scenes With the Pope's Secret Science Committee - Bloomberg Business

How to get to the pope?  What do you think of the green and very expensive carbon tax myth now? Are you worried about global warming ?  Is global warming a special interest gambit? Is this a new inquisition? Are we going retro ?

The Pontifical Academy of Sciences is a Vatican agency that has origins in Galileo’s time. It’s made up of 80 of the world’s top scientists, who keep the Bishop of Rome and the Vatican up to speed on new scientific research. On April 28, the academy hosted a conference on climate change and poverty. The religious leaders are seated to the right. The scientists face them, across the room. At the central podium, beneath the bust of Pope John Paul II, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon delivers his address. They met in the great hall of the Vatican’s Casina Pio IV. The inscription on either side of the bust extols Pope John Paul II’s 1992 apology to Galileo.

The dangers of driver’s licence suspensions - The Globe and Mail

The dangers of driver’s licence suspensions - The Globe and Mail

This is akin to the arbitrary asset forfeiture laws . Legal stealing whose only purpose is to enrich the state under draconian and dubious punitive thinking. It is unjust, unconstitutional because mobility is a right not a privilege. It must be changed back to road safety only fines as before the intent was perverted or continue to bring the system of "justice " and law into disrepute.

Truth honour and justice file . Lets bring back natural justice?

In many cases, taking away a driver’s licence as a means of enforcement can entail a punishment far greater than the crime itself. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)

Probe Reveals Red Cross Raised $500M for Haiti but Built Only 6 Homes / Sputnik International

Probe Reveals Red Cross Raised $500M for Haiti but Built Only 6 Homes / Sputnik International

For the record we ,as the KOC council worked on this needed relief project to help Haitians. our projects  did not materialize because the "professional agencies such as the  Red Cross was in charge."   There is a lesson here when you follow up on the actual results . The question becomes how do we do good for and with our order in the future ? Food for thought ?

"After raising nearly half a billion dollars for emergency disaster relief after the 2010 Haitian earthquake - including $170 million earmarked for 'shelter relief' - the American Red Cross has built a grand total of six houses, according to a new report."

The American Red Cross claims to have provided homes to 130,000 Haitians crumble under scrutiny, as that number includes people trained in proper construction techniques, those in temporary shelters, or people who received rental assistance, according to a Propublica/NPR report.
