We are to live differently - beginning right now- because we live our lives now in Jesus Christ. We are to love differently, because we are capacitated by grace to love in Jesus Christ, and with His Love. And all of this is made possible, as we cooperate with grace. We should regularly ask ourselves if we are ready to pass through that narrow gate. Are we attached to the things of this world? Are we truly striving for salvation so we may make it through the gate when the time comes?



. The Psalmist reminds us we will have foes, enemies. It may happen that we stumble, and our enemies will rejoice. As Christians, we are certain to have enemies, drawn from those who prefer evil to good. And it can be embarrassing when these people delight. But we should not worry about how we appear in the eyes of others. Instead, let us recognize that the Lord saves His faithful. God is generous and good, and he will deliver us, in the sight of our enemies.

 Things Too Many Catholics Think the Church Stopped Teaching… But Didn’t!

I am grateful that many Catholics are starting to wake up to the awareness that there is much they do not know. On the other hand, I want to smack my head on brick walls. Why? It represents a resounding failure on the educational apparatus of the Church.

I do not blame these people for their lack of knowledge. I do not blame even their teachers necessarily. I do blame, however, those who did know better but chose a different path. I blame those who purposely mislead, either out of fear or rebellion.

In the fallout, many well meaning Catholics really do believe the Church has dropped teachings. Their religion class never brought it up. The “be nice” drivel that passes for preaching in most parishes doesn’t touch on these teachings. Some remember sisters, priests, and other teachers embracing the “spirit of Vatican II” and telling people that we didn’t teach thus and so anymore.

These people lied. They have done grave damage.

But, let’s set the the record straight on some things here today, things that we taught before 1965 and still teach long after 1965 today.

1) Sin, including Mortal Sin, still exists
Sin didn’t morph into “making mistakes.” Personal sin didn’t disappear and morph into “corporate or social sin.”
In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 1846-1876, the issue of sin, both venial and mortal, are defined in union with the constant teaching of the Church.
Since sin didn’t evaporate into the ether, neither did the necessity to address their effect and need for healing. Being in a state of mortal sin will still send you to hell. Dismiss that at your own risk. Being in a state of mortal sin still excludes a person from the reception of the Eucharist until Confession has happened. Receiving the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin is, itself, a mortal sin.
We have never taught that one has a right to the Eucharist in any old state. Never. In fact, if we did, that would point to a belief that the bread and wine must still be just bread and wine. We do not believe this either.
2) Sunday Mass/ Holy Day Masses are NOT optional
A Catholic in good standing, exempting those who are ill or taking care of someone who is ill, are obliged to worship God in Mass on every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation. That never changed.
When one chooses to opt out of Mass in favor of sleeping in, sports, shopping, or anything in this vein, one has found a god they think is more worthy of their time than the God.
That any Catholic would believe their faith life is just fine without Mass is delusional. Willfully missing mass is starving oneself to death spiritually. To knowingly and willfully miss Mass is mortally sinful. To teach one’s children by word or example that Mass is optional is to teach your children how to mortally sin. This is a very serious matter.
3) The sanctity of human sexuality is still upheld
We view human sexuality as such a profound good that the Church advises against the abuse of human sexuality into a mere plaything. We have always had problems with the misuse of human sexuality and the devastation it brings.

I know, I know…what about those clerics who sexually preyed on their flocks? They did so in direct opposition to the teachings of the Church.
The use of artificial birth control was never a “let your conscience be your guide” type of thing. That was the mantra of clerics who either bought into worldly views on human sexuality or were too cowardly to uphold those teachings for fear of the backlash that would come.

The Church does not okay the use of porn, masturbation, homosexual acts, or any other use of human sexuality that goes against its very nature.

I know this is not popular, but the Church has not changed its teachings about this. See Catechism sections 2331-2400.
4) Confession is still necessary for the forgiveness of Mortal Sin
Sin needs to be forgiven for the relationship between God and with His people to be restored. It is that relationship that opens us to the freedom of receiving God’s grace in the sacraments. It that relationship that opens us to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Mortal sin severs that relationships. Without that relationship, we have no true access to the grace of the other sacraments nor to the Kingdom of Heaven. Confession is the way we fix that.
Whether one feels that is true or not, does not change that this is the constant teaching of the Church. See Catechism sections 1446-1470.
5) The Catholic faith is not a buffet where one picks and chooses what is okay and comfortable
The Catholic faith has the right to say that this is what we believe. It has the right to set the standard. We do so because this is what Christ taught. End of story.

The point of faith isn’t to numb. The point of faith is to challenge to greater heights, courage, and holiness. Every rule and teaching of the Church comes from what it means to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. It is an integral whole. Once we start picking and choosing, we damage the whole. When people start picking and choosing, it becomes easier and easier to abandon faith altogether.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Catholic professionals bemoan the ignorance of the masses and the lack of practice of the masses. I say that the masses are only doing what we trained them to do! 

If we treated faith as a buffet, shocker that others would as well. If we backed away from unpopular teachings, or teachings that mean I have to give up my favored sins, then we spread the disease of ignorance that plagues so many.
It isn’t as if we haven’t had these teachings all along. All of the things our “spirit of Vatican II” types said we threw out (the Rosary, Confession, Purgatory, indulgences, sexual morality teachings, etc) we never did. These types will have to stand before God for the damage they did.
We still believe what we believed long before Vatican II. Our need to learn is present, as is our need to have clear teaching.

Worthy Chaplains and Dear Brother Knights, 

The issues that have come to light concerning sexual abuse by Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and in the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report are cause for grave concern among Catholics and Brother Knights. Many feel deeply betrayed by those whom they long held in high regard. Such concerns are shared not just in the United States, but in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere.

These sins of commission and omission have sent the Church we love, the Church we serve and the Church that Jesus Christ established into convulsions. Sadly, the disgrace not only is borne by the perpetrators, it hurts us all, as does the silence of shepherds who have ignored the cries of their flocks.

There are many wonderful and faithful laborers in the vineyard of the Lord among our priests and bishops. However, it is clear that in addition to devastating criminal acts, we have seen many other moral failings by clergy that represent a crisis of commitment to the Gospel. 

Too often the needs of victims have been subordinated to a distorted sense of mercy toward the perpetrators or an instinct for clerical self-preservation. The sexual acts — both criminal and non-criminal — highlight the need to recover a respect for and a renewed commitment to the priestly promises of celibacy.

The Knights of Columbus has supported the pastoral and charitable work of our bishops and priests since our founding by the Venerable Father Michael McGivney. We understand that the priest should lead the parish and the bishop should be the center of unity in a diocese.  But we — like all Catholics — are painfully aware of the wreckage that ensues when elements of this leadership are abdicated by evil actions whether directly perpetrated or covered up.

Now, the Knights of Columbus — laymen, priests and chaplains together — will have an important role to play in rebuilding the Church. We must commit the Knights of Columbus to work for repentance, reform and rebuilding of the Church.

Repentance should include a full accounting of the misdeeds by those who have committed them. Archbishop McCarrick and others at fault owe us a full account of their actions, motivations and cover-ups. After years of having us confess to them, it is now time for them to come clean about what they have done and what they have failed to do.

This will also help increase the recognition that clerical sexual abuse is a global problem that must be addressed at the highest levels of the Catholic Church. Moreover, priests and bishops who refuse to live according to their promises of celibacy should be removed from public ministry, not out of retribution, but for the protection of the faithful and to prevent future variations of the scandal we now suffer.

Reform must include many good ideas that have been proposed, such as a full and complete investigation of sexual abuse led by an independent commission that includes laity; complete transparency by the Catholic hierarchy into all matters of criminal sexual misconduct past or future; an expansion of the zero tolerance policy to include sexual activity or misconduct by clerics including bishops, and by seminarians; and a call for faithfulness by all members of the clergy, including bishops. There must also be an independent ethics hotline for reporting of criminal and other conduct at odds with Catholic teaching on the clerical state of life; and there must be protections against retaliation.

Such reforms will be difficult for a Church largely unused to them, and we must support our bishops and our priests in embracing these reforms in order to rebuild.

We can help to rebuild our Church in several ways. Above all else, Knights — and our chaplains — must embrace love of God and love of neighbor. This is Christ’s great commandment and the founding mission of our Order. It is also exactly the opposite of the rejection of God and exploitation of neighbor that our Church has witnessed in these scandals.

Shortly before becoming Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger decried the “filth” in the Church “even among those, who in the priesthood, ought to belong totally” to Christ. He also provided the antidote, stating at other times that what the Church needs now more than anything else is “saints.” Pope Francis reiterated Pope Benedict’s sentiments in his letter on Aug. 20.

In the days ahead, the Knights of Columbus will help renew our Church on a national level through a Novena of Masses in reparation for these sins that have so grievously wounded the Body of Christ. I take this opportunity to ask that you offer this Novena of Masses for our Church at your earliest opportunity.

Beginning in November, the Knights of Columbus will sponsor, in cooperation with the Shrine of St. Jean Vianney in Ars, France, a national tour of the relic of the heart of this great patron saint of priests. In the coming weeks, I will share more details with you about this initiative.

We will also continue to strengthen and rebuild our Church at the level of our families and parishes through our Building the Domestic Church program. Its twin elements of imbuing families with faith and strengthening parish life are critical to providing a Catholic Church that rebuilds based on the Gospel principles of love of God and love of neighbor. Together with our recently announced “Faith In Action” initiative, we will strive to make our parishes truly become, in the words of Pope Francis, “a family of families.”

Now is the time for all brother Knights to stand steadfast in faith, as Catholics and as gentlemen. We will assist priests, bishops and our fellow Catholics in helping the Church chart a course for the future that puts Christ at the center, so that truly we may say, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

This is the moment in which Knights — including in a special way our priest members — can be part of a great renewal for good in our Church. And as we strive to follow the Lord more closely in the days ahead, may he deliver us from every evil and in his mercy graciously grant his Church peace and unity.

In closing, know that your faithful witness and sacrifice can bring inspiration and hope to millions of your fellow Catholics. It will be needed in the days ahead more than ever before.  And to every priest and bishop whose commitment and dedication to our Order and to our Church has been faithful and exemplary, please accept my gratitude in both a personal way and on behalf of the Knights of Columbus.

Let each one of us prayerfully invoke the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so that in the words of St. Maximilian Kolbe, our hearts would be cleansed and themselves become immaculate, similar and like unto her own heart.

Dear men  For 15 years, the people of Ontario have endured the grand liberal experiment – launched by Dalton McGuinty in 2003, and accelerated by Kathleen Wynne in 2013. While we might cringe over the liberals’ reckless spending, burdensome tax and hydro rate increases, and crushing debt-load, their most heinous offence, by far, has been the social and moral chaosthey unleashed. This is especially evident under Premier Wynne. And it makes me sick. Ever since Ms. Wynne took office, she has been relentless in forcing a radical agenda that is more in line with her own chosen lesbian lifestyle than the typical lifestyle and values of the people of this province. This agenda undermines parental rights, corrupts the morals of minors, and elevates the fringe LGBT lobby to the heights of political power. It subverts our freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and freedom of religion. Let me share with you some highlights (or should I say “lowlights”) of what has happened to the moral and social fabric of Ontario during the time of Ms. Wynne’s tenure… Children’s morals compromised. The Wynne-Levin sex education curriculum promotes LGBT ideology, the new gender theory, and sexual licentiousness to young and impressionable minds. It indoctrinates and sexualizes our kids. (2015.) Medicine politicized. Medical professionals are now barred from treating kids with unwanted same-sex attractions or gender dysphoria (to correct their gender confusion). (Bill 77, 2015). Natural family rights obliterated. The terms “mother” and “father” were excised from Ontario law, while up to four “parents” may now be listed for any given child. (Bill 28, 2016). Homicide normalized. Euthanasia has come down from the feds, but, like abortion, it is being funded by the Ontario liberals, threatening and de-valuing the most vulnerable among us. (2016.) Parental authority undermined. Parents can lose their children to the state if they identify as homosexual or transgender and the parents object. (Bill 89, 2017). Security of the person threatened. Parents who object to one or more purely optional vaccinations for their children are now forced to watch a 45 minute propaganda video or else face the expulsion of their children from school. (Bill 198, 2017; see our petition.) Conscience rights denied. Doctors have lost their right to refuse to participate in abortion or euthanasia. (2017; See our petition.) Truth politicized. People can now misstate and misrepresent their biological sex on Ontario-issued birth certificates, driver’s licences, and OHIP cards in an effort to pander to the LGBT lobby. (2017, 2018.) Freedom of speech muzzled. Citizens are no longer permitted to speak or advise against abortion on public lands and streets surrounding every abortion clinic and abortionist’s home in Ontario. (Bill 163, 2018; see our related petition.) Come election day, June 7th, I want to send a clear message to Kathleen Wynne and her liberal government: ‘Enough is enough! Your grand liberal experiment is over!’ I want a government that protects the rights, values, and wellbeing of the children, parents, families, and communities of Ontario. And I think you want the same thing, too! Therefore I am asking you to please get this message out there - share it with your family, friends, and neighbours - spread it far and wide. Stop wasting your energy and time,  filling out forms and filling fees to justify more government abusive behaviour and overpaid overhead. . The only way to control a cancer is not to feed it, or the  longer term use of  radical surgery which is also an option but only at election time .



Re-establish and  get back to timely community  quality standards  by not complying with unnecessary red tape regulations wherever AND WHENEVER YOU CAN. CNC constructive non compliance works for you not the compliance industry built on force ,conformity and fear . .
